Applied Materials to Base 8.5G CVD Operations in Southern Taiwan
July 18, 2008
AKT, a subsidiary of US semiconductor equipment and service supplier Applied Materials, recently announced its decision to set up a 8.5G CVD (Chemical Vapor Deposition) plant in the Southern Taiwan Science Park, Taiwan's Economic Daily News reported.

AKT is expected to expand its CVD production line at the Southern Taiwan Science Park from one to three, a move expected to turn AKT's southern Taiwan facility into a regional CVD assembly and delivery center servicing the Asian countries. It is also projected that AKT's new plant will help further the development of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) and solar cell equipment production in Taiwan, and AKT is expected to place orders for related components with Taiwanese manufacturers, according to the Economic Daily News report.
